Nighttime drive (well, early morning actually)

Some people go out for an early morning jog for their exercise.  This morning it was an early morning drive for me.  I took my wife to the airport to head off to be the mom and grandma for our daughter and new grandchild (#7) all the way on the other side of the country.  What is this anyway that kids have to move so far away and take the grandkids with them?  Didn't their parents teach them any better?
