Still at the Steven F. Udar-Hazy Air and Space Museum looking over (actually "under") the space shuttle.  Makes me think of the John Wooden quote--

Space-the final frontier

The space shuttle is much larger up close than I expected.  Although I had seen it fly by mounted on the 747 transport plane in the past, I had never been up front and close until visiting the musuem this week.  Very impressive.

Makes me wonder if the shuttle astronauts had the same feeling as Alan Shepard--an astronaut from an earlier age---

What's the speed of dark?

Visited the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (part of the Air and Space Muesum in Washington DC).  Great displays including this SR-71 Blackbird.  It's last flight from Los Angeles to Washington DC lasted 64 minutes.

The only way to fly!

Thank you kids!  You all spoil me rotten.  Thank you for pooling your resources last year and buying me the Bose QuietComfort Noise Canceling Headphones (earbuds) for Christmas.  This is the "only way to fly" alright.  Put these babies in your ears and flip the switch...ahhhhh...the noise of the world is turned off.  Actually the drone of the jet engines goes off but I can still hear conversations.  And there are no large, sweaty, over the ear muffs to deal with.  I don't even plug them in to listen to music.  Just shutting out the backgroud noise is sufficient for a more restful and quiet flight.  I arrive at my destination more refreshed.

Mr. Franklin had it right.  I don't know about you but I certainly have many habits that could be discarded.  I have also lived long enough to be able to discard some of my worst habits over the years and, on each occassion, doing so has helped improve my life.  Am I good yet?  Well I am working toward that goal.  Maybe someday, if I live long enough...

It definitely is the time to pluck up the sunflowers.  The season has changed and winter is approaching.  There are mornings now when I must where a hoodie and gloves just to stay warm. This kind of weather is hard on the flowers.  Oh, but what a wonderful season is ahead.  A nice blanket of snow will be welcomed.  After all, it is much easier and quicker to snow blow the driveway than it is to mow the lawn.  Yep, to everything there is a season...

It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's....

Lego Man Joe seems to be flying over the city looking for opportunities to spread truth, justice and the American Way (are you old enough to remember that?).  Look!  It's a bird.  It's a plane!  No, it's Lego Man Joe!

However, contrary to popular belief, Lego Man Joe cannot really fly.  He (much like his hero Chuck Norris) just jumps and then decides when to come down.
